31 Flavors Invading Japan /Today’s Special 1980-1982 Woodcut
I love traditional Japanese art forms, and Masami Teraoka uses traditional art styles but throws in a modern twist, with exceptional wit.
McDonald’s hamburgers Invading Japan 1974-5
I love the bright colors used in this work and the inclusion of traditional clothing such as the kimono and geta.
I don’t know the name of this piece, but just adore all of the different textures, All the different patterns and the woman’s long tongue lapping up the noodles are fabulous.
Teraoaka has several upcoming exhibitions:
Fall 2009 Honolulu Academy of Arts, Honolulu, Hawaii “The Holy Terrors” (a traveling career survey exhibition curated by Michael Rooks of works by Masami Teraoka, 1974–present)
